August Newsletter

August is Upon Us!!

And we've been enjoying the dog days of summer. We're happy to have the Augusta Heritage Center's summer programming bring great music, evening dances, and lots of new people to our community. We enjoyed the Elkins Main Street Jazz Walk, which was a great opportunity to get out to local restaurants and listen to music. And, most importantly for this newsletter, we're gearing up for our own full month of events! (You can check out our calendar and Save the Date card at the end of this post for an in-depth look at what's going on.)

Garment Class: Make a Dress!

We're offering a new garment making course! If you enjoy our Button-Down Shirt class in the winter - or you're sad you missed it! - then this is the class for you. We'll be working from Design B (aka no big flouncy sleeves). You'll leave at the end of this three week course with a finished dress, and with a new knowledge of darts, invisible zippers, inset sleeves, and fitting. Garment Class will meet on the 7th, 14th, and 28th of August. Call the store for more details or to sign up!

Stack and Whack Quilting Class!

Margy Burns is leading this day-long class all about the Stack and Whack Quilting Technique. We've all been going gaga over the quilt she made...and now we're dying to try our hands at it ourselves! This one-day workshop is happening on Saturday, the 18th. (And, again, feel free to call the store for more details or to sign up!)

Sew Inspired
with Pam Damour

Pam Damour is coming to Elkins on September 14th and 15th! As a sewing professional Pam is continuously morphing and changing the way we sew. Her innovations in the sewing room help you to create in a more efficient and fun way. Join Pam to see what’s new in her sewing repertoire, as she shares samples and sewing secrets in techniques, quilting, serging, embroidery and more!  Pam’s enthusiasm and knowledge are second only to her sense of humor. Learn how to make designer trims, easy zipper insertions and flawless finishes! A Certified Zentangle Teacher, Pam will show you how she’s incorporated Zentangle into many of her sewing and quilting projects. See all the projects from Pam’s book, Hold Everything.  You’ll also be the first to see a sneak preview of her latest book, Power Serge!  The all-day trunk show/lecture/demonstration will start your head spinning with inspiration that you’ll use for years to come, then join us for an all-day hands-on workshop as she guides you through her techniques to make a perfect bag! Sign up for one or both days.
